Towards a place (2025)

When reading the old letters found in his family home, the artist bears witness to the communications, hopes, fears, and bonds of his parents and relatives during their youth. These texts from the past, along with the visions of the future embedded within the writing, compel the artist to construct an imaginary, sought-after island; by tracing the ink marks on the letters using tracing paper, the maps of these fictional islands are brought to light. These are islands of hope, whose coordinates remain unknown, yet whose existence will forever be desired.
